A glutathione infusion enables high-dose administration of the pharmaceutical active substance S-acetyl-glutathione according to Dr. med. For whom is a glutathione infusion useful?
A glutathione infusion is helpful for all clinical pictures associated with a glutathione deficiency and increased oxidative stress. These include, among others:

- other exhaustion syndromes such as COVID fatigue, burnout, etc.
- cancer-related exhaustion (tumour fatigue)

The glutathione infusion works where it matters
“Normal” glutathione in its active, reduced form (GSH) is highly reactive and oxidises very quickly. Responsible for this is the molecule's SH group, which readily forms bonds. With a half-life of 1.6 minutes, “normal” reduced glutathione cannot be used therapeutically in any meaningful way to increase intracellular glutathione levels.

For therapeutically administered GSH to actually have a positive influence on glutathione levels within the cells, protection from oxidation is therefore indispensable.

The glutathione infusion with oxidation protection according to Dr. Ohlenschläger
This protection is provided by the special process of glutathione acetylation developed by Dr. Ohlenschläger. In this process, the sensitive SH group is protected by the established standard pharmaceutical process of acetylation. The result is S-acetyl-glutathione (SAG), which, unlike GSH, can easily pass through cell membranes.

Back to GSH inside the cell
Within the cell, S-acetyl-glutathione is converted back into GSH by the enzymes present there. Eumetabol® thus ensures the highest intracellular bioavailability.

Benefits of glutathione infusion therapy
- No tablets need to be taken, or the tablet dose can be significantly reduced.
- Infusions are ideal for patients with swallowing difficulties and for very weakened patients, e.g. with tumour fatigue in the course of cancer therapy.

Eumetabol® glutathione infusion: a milestone in glutathione therapy
Many successful therapists have opted, out of conviction, for the Eumetabol® glutathione infusion in exhaustion therapy, detoxification and supportive cancer treatment. Here are their reasons:
With my therapy, I start where it is most effective and most sensible: at the glutathione system.
Glutathione is the most important antioxidant in the human organism. Even better than vitamin C, E, selenium and other antioxidants, it renders free radicals harmless, detoxifies a wide variety of harmful substances and protects the cells. It is even involved in the repair of genetic information (“DNA repair”).
I choose the optimally bioavailable form of glutathione: S-acetyl-glutathione (SAG in Eumetabol®).
Unlike reduced glutathione, the pharmaceutical active substance S-acetyl-glutathione according to Dr. med. Gerhard Ohlenschläger® is effectively protected from oxidation. The administration of “normal” reduced glutathione has only a minimal and very short-lived effect on the intracellular glutathione level. The effect of Eumetabol®, by contrast, is demonstrably high and lasting.
I want to be able to use a glutathione infusion without having to deal with the possible problems of imported goods. Eumetabol® offers me this possibility with its infusion therapy.
Since Eumetabol® is manufactured exclusively in Germany, any conceivable conflicts with the requirements of the German Medicinal Products Act (Arzneimittelgesetz, AMG) are ruled out. There are numerous scientific studies on the positive effect of S-acetyl-glutathione, the active substance of Eumetabol®. This also applies in direct comparison with “simple” glutathione. Can side effects occur with a glutathione infusion?
Glutathione is an endogenous protein, so the pharmaceutical S-acetyl-glutathione is also very well tolerated. General side effects are not to be expected. Some people find the rapid detoxifying effect burdensome for a short time. A simple remedy in that case is to eat something before the infusion; a small snack is enough.
In the case of an allergy or intolerance, e.g. to histamine, please inform your therapist before the infusion.

What is the difference between a glutathione infusion and glutathione capsules?
A glutathione infusion with Eumetabol® has several advantages over taking capsules:
- Glutathione infusions work faster, because the active substance enters the blood directly.
- Glutathione infusions work better, because the active substance S-acetyl-glutathione (Eumetabol®) enters the cell interior directly and is more bioavailable than glutathione in capsules.
- Separate appointments for blood sampling to monitor the success of therapy are not needed. Blood value checks and the infusion can take place at the same appointment.
- Patients do not have to remember for themselves to take capsules (or tablets or powder) and to dose them correctly. The therapist takes care of scheduling and administration.
- Glutathione infusions are particularly pleasant for patients with swallowing problems.
- With glutathione infusions, higher doses, such as may be necessary in cancer-related fatigue, are easier to achieve. Taking a correspondingly large number of capsules (or tablets or powder) is very burdensome for many patients.
